(Last Updated: April 26, 2018)

1. Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State

Saquon Barkley is a special player. He has an incredibly powerful lower body, is a top-tier athlete, and has great vision. He is a protypical NFL running back as he is a a powerful runner who can take hits, deliver hits, block, and catch the ball. He’s played at an All-American level since he was a freshman, and he still isn’t playing to his full potential. The man is nearly impossible to tackle, and should be an all-pro at the next level for many years to come.

2017 Stats

13 games played, 1271 rushing yards, 18 rushing touchdowns, 5.9 yards per carry, 632 receiving yards

2. Quenton Nelson, G, Notre Dame

Quenton Nelson is a mauler at guard for the Irish. It’s very rare to see an interior offensive lineman ranked in the top 5, but that shows just how good “Q" really is. Nelson is incredibly powerful, technically sound, and NFL ready. He moves his feet well even though he isn’t traditionally fast, even for his position. He is known most for having a powerful punch that pushes defensive linemen out of their lanes, as well as his ability to finish blocks. Nelson is expected to be an all-pro for many years to come.

2017 Stats

13 games played, 3 years as a starter.

3. Bradley Chubb, DE, NC State

Bradley Chubb was the best player on one of the best defensive lines in the nation this past season. He has prototypical size for a 4-3 defensive end or a 3-4 outside linebacker, incredible athleticism for his size, and a nose for making big plays. Chubb also comes from a football family, and has a high IQ. Best of all, Bradley Chubb is ALL effort, never quitting on plays and playing sideline to sideline even from his d-line spot. There aren’t many players who can near his production against the pass.

2017 Stats

12 games played, 72 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 10 sacks.

4. Sam Darnold, QB, USC

Darnold is the most NFL ready quarterback in the draft, and has the best chance of being a long-time starter in the NFL. He is incredibly confident in his arm, has the accuracy and arm strength to make any throws, and excels at hitting receivers in tight windows. Even though he plays at USC, he has shown the ability to play through weather, can perform on the road, and has been a winner throughout his career. He’ll need to do a better job limiting turnovers at the next level.

2017 Stats

14 games played, 4143 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns, 13 interceptions, 63.1% completion rate, 148.1 passer rating, 72 rushing yards, and 5 rushing touchdowns.

5. Roquan Smith, ILB, Georgia

Roquan Smith has been on the NFL radar ever since he first stepped on the field for the Georgia Bulldogs. Smith is an incredible athlete, an intelligent player, and a well-coached tackler. He is known for being a great leader, which is a very important trait for inside linebackers who generally relay the plays to the rest of the defense. His discipline, IQ, and athleticism are a dream combination for any defensive coordinator. Not only does Roquan have a high ceiling, he also has a very high floor.

2017 Stats

15 games played, 137 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, 2 passes defended, 0 interceptions.

6. Minkah Fitzpatrick, CB/S, Alabama

Minkah Fitzpatrick is a dream for a coach to work with. When Nick Saban recognizes someone as an on-field coach, you know they’re something special. His football IQ and work ethic are both among the highest of any player in the 2018 NFL Draft. Fitzpatrick was a rare day-one contributor for Alabama, and is an athletic defensive back who can play multiple positions. His acceleration is the best part of his athletic repertoire, but he’s also a tough nosed player who can deliver a big hit when he needs to. Fitzpatrick could become a defensive leader and “fixer" at the next level.

2017 Stats

13 games played, 60 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 9 passes defended, 1 interception. (6 interceptions in 2016).

7. Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA

There are a lot of things to like about Josh Rosen, but also a few big red flags. Rosen is the most mechanically-sound quarterback in the draft, and has incredible poise in the pocket. He has experience playing under center which is rare for college quarterbacks, and he has a quick release. His mid range accuracy and ability to lead receivers is undeniable, and why he could be an NFL starter. The worries are his arrogance, history of nagging injuries, and poor performance in road games.

2017 Stats

11 games played, 3756 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 62.5% completion rate, 147.0 passer rating, -97 rushing yards, and 2 rushing touchdowns.

8. Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming

Josh Allen has the highest ceiling of any quarterback in the 2018 NFL Draft. Check out his highlight tape, and you’ll see why. He can make throws that you’ve never seen made before. Allen has a strong arm, prototypical NFL size, and a high football IQ. The red flags are plentiful, however, as he wasn’t even good enough to be an all-conference performer in the Mountain West Conference. His flamethrower arm is not coachable, and gives him incredible potential.

2017 Stats

11 games played, 1812 passing yards, 16 passing touchdowns, 6 interceptions, 56.3% completion rate, 127.8 passer rating, 204 rushing yards, and 5 rushing touchdowns.

9. Tremaine Edmunds, OLB, Virginia Tech

Tremaine Edmunds is powerful, fast, and very young. Edmunds can play any linebacker position, is improving in pass coverage, and is a natural pass rusher and run stopper. He lacks the instincts of some of the other top tier linebackers, but that should be improved with experience. His length and quickness is incredible, and he can still put more healthy weight onto his frame to make him even more imposing. He is a raw athlete that can be molded into an all-pro, do-it-all linebacker.

2017 Stats

13 games played, 108 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, 2 passes defended, 0 interceptions.

10. Leighton VanderEsch, ILB, Boise State

Vander Esch is an incredible football player who appeared out of no where for Boise State. The linebacker player 8-man football in high school, and walked on at Boise. He evolved into a strong, athletic, smart, and well-rounded player. He can play any linebacker position, and his 256-pound frame is huge for an inside linebacker. He gets sideline to sideline, never takes a play off, and is surprisingly good in pass coverage. He is also a solid leader and a class act.

2017 Stats

14 games played, 141 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, 7 passes defended, 2 interceptions.
