Mory Bamba Clocks Fastest Pro Day 40 Time

Pro days are finally complete for the 2026 NFL Draft cycle.

BNB Football obtained NFL-verified pro day results for over 2800 prospects, which includes exactly 2300 players who ran a 40 yard dash.

Of those 2300 players, only one ran a sub-4.3 second 40.

That player is Mory Bamba, cornerback from BYU, who ran a 4.29.

Mory Bamba Scouting Report

Mory Bamba is a very interesting prospect. Despite not being known by most fans, he has a legitimate chance to be drafted.

The 5th year player spent his first two seasons at the JUCO ranks before joining BYU. He’s seen an increasing role each season, initially starting to really flash his potential in 2024.

Cornerback is a very traits-heavy position, and Bamba has the traits.

Aside from his blazing 4.29 40 time, Bamba had an elite 11’1″ broad jump, an elite 1.46 second split, and did it all while standing 6’2″ 193 pounds. Pound for pound he’s likely the best athlete at the cornerback position in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The traits are undeniable, but there’s a reason why he’s still on the fringe of being drafted. Bamba has a long way to go to prove he can cover NFL wide receivers.

Before you even turn on the film, you scratch your head about how Bamba wasn’t able to earn a full time starting role at any point in his college career.

He played quite a bit of football as part of a DB rotation, but it’s always a hard sell to use a draft pick on a college player who wasn’t a starter.

Bamba primarily plays off-man coverage, showing a clean backpedal and occasionally flashing that speed. He has good lateral movement ability and is decent at mirroring receivers, although he doesn’t close distance on short passes as well as you’d expect from someone with his speed.

He’s been able to disrupt a variety of receivers regardless of size or speed, and only allowed completions on roughly 54% of his targets in his career.

Physicality is also an issue for Bamba, who tends to avoid contact as a tackler and opt to just bite at ankles instead of lowering his shoulder.

There’s plenty Bamba will need to improve upon before seeing the field in the NFL, but an NFL is certain to take a chance on his physical traits.

Mory Bamba 2025 Stats

Through 14 games in 2025, Mory Bamba totaled 23 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 4 passes defended, and allowed receptions on 24 of his 40 targets as the primary defender.

He was targeted once for every 6.1 coverage snaps, of the higher marks in the draft class, suggesting opposing teams weren’t afraid of targeting him.
